Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) and Subcommittee on Aviation Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-LA) released the following statements on today’s Senate confirmation of Stephen Dickson as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

“Having a confirmed leader in place at a federal agency as important as the FAA is vital to ensuring the safety and improvement of the national aviation system, and I commend the Senate for confirming Steve Dickson as the next Administrator of the FAA,” said Sam Graves.  “I also want to praise Dan Elwell, who has served as the Acting Administrator for the last year and a half, for his stalwart leadership and professionalism during very difficult circumstances.  I look forward to working with both of them as we move forward to attract more Americans to careers in aviation, improve our aviation infrastructure across the country, and maintain the safest aviation system in the world.”

“It’s time to put Dickson’s multidimensional aviation experience to work for the American people as the newly confirmed Administrator of the FAA,” said Garret Graves.  “We’re hopeful that he’ll hit the ground running to advance the goals Congress set in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, to ensure the safety of passengers across the spectrum of our aviation industries, and to lean into the possibilities of the future with advancing technologies and systems for both manned and unmanned aviation.  I also want to thank Dan Elwell for his leadership and consistent efforts to keep lines of communication open by proactively engaging with Members of Congress during a challenging season at the FAA.”
